Salvation Belongs to Our God

pastor Inspirational

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Revelation 7:9-10

When Jesus was making His triumphal entry into Jerusalem just days before He would be crucified, a great multitude came out to welcome Him and proclaim Him as the King of Israel. Many of them took branches of palm trees to lay before Him as He rode into town. As is so often the case, this is a type or an earthly representation of a heavenly original. But we have to go back further to grasp the full significance of the palm branches, all the way to the book of Leviticus and the Feast of Tabernacles. This feast will be fulfilled when God’s people dwell with Him forever in their eternal home; the New Jerusalem!

The clothing in our verses today is important to note as well. The Bible is very clear in declaring that everyone has sinned and even the most righteous person would seem to be dressed in filthy rags when compared to the perfect holiness of God. The outward clothing is symbolic of the inward condition of the person. Cleansing and washing outwardly represents the cleansing of the soul!

Now, when you take a glimpse into heaven as you read these verses you see that there have been, and are today, people throughout the world who have received salvation and will stand before the very throne of God. These are people from all nations and all walks of life, speaking many different languages. They grow up in all sorts of situations and experience life in a wide variety of ways. But they (and we who are born-again) all have one thing in common — Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world!

Salvation is available to anyone, anywhere. It is not a matter of God adapting salvation to a particular culture or allowing a group of people to make up their own definition of salvation, for salvation belongs to our God and can only be given by Him to whosoever will receive it. There are not many ways to God, there is only one way; Jesus. Only He can replace our sin-stained garments with a white robe. The Lord gets all of the glory and honor for salvation because without Him we are lost!

No matter how lost someone seems to be or how hopeless their circumstance, they have the potential to receive the greatest gift ever given. They can become a part of this multitude and, in that day, be standing before God’s throne with their palm branches and dressed in a white robe. You have the key that can unlock their heart for the Lord to come in and bring salvation to another soul. You have the Good News. You have Jesus.

What a sight to see people from every nation in one accord glorifying the Father and the Lamb, Jesus. What a group to be a part of. You have been given a gift and the Lord wants you to share His gift with others. Every good and perfect gift is from above, from God. Proclaim to all who will hear, “Salvation belongs to our God and to the Lamb!”
