“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11
The most epic of all battles has been brewing for a very long time. In fact, the Hero of this battle was chosen as our Champion before time began! On one side, you have the serpent of old, called the devil and Satan along with a third of the angels who rebelled with him. They have been busy deceiving anyone who will listen to their lies and destroying anything they can gain access to. The enemy is roaming around constantly seeking whom he may devour.
Now, for the winning side, you have the God of the Armies of Israel with Jesus as the Commander in Chief. The heavenly host includes such mighty warriors as Michael the Archangel as well as an innumerable army of angels ready to carry out their Lord’s orders. Many times, even if you are not aware of it, He is giving His angels charge over you to watch over you and deliver you from the hand of the enemy.
With a battle of this proportion, it is going to take something huge to gain the ultimate victory. Not to worry though, Jesus Christ is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Great I Am, the Alpha and the Omega. He is the Christ, the Anointed One. Jesus has been given the name above all names and He has all authority in heaven and on earth. Jesus defeated Satan through His perfect sacrifice for mankind when He died on the cross. The war has been won and everything will be settled at the end of days. Until that time comes, there will be battles to be fought and won, though!
As a Christian, you are called to be a soldier in God’s army, but what can you do to make a difference in a war of this magnitude? How can you overcome an enemy that has deceived multitudes of people throughout the ages? What difference can you make? One of the weapons (and there are plenty of others as well) that you have on hand at all times is your testimony. This weapon is powerful enough to overcome the devil and his demons. One unique aspect of your testimony is its uniqueness; it is a weapon, God’s gift, that is given just to you. Like all gifts from the Lord, this one is to be shared for His glory.
In case you are thinking that your testimony is insignificant and would not help anyone or that your testimony includes not just mountain-top moments but also some views from the valley looking up and would therefore not be of any use to the Lord, put that thought behind you, for it is not from God. Do not compare your testimony with that of anyone else for you and your walk with the Lord are not like anyone else’s.
You do not overcome the devil with someone else’s testimony; you overcome him with the blood of the Lamb of God, and with the word of your testimony. You have the victory over the enemy because of what the Lord has done in your life. When you confess the goodness of God in your life and His faithfulness to you, the enemy has nowhere to hide. Lies cannot stand against the truth, darkness cannot remain where there is light. When you are walking by faith, there is no place for fear. The enemy can be defeated, no matter how big he seems to be. You are living proof that God is bigger. That’s the power of your testimony!
