The One with All the Answers

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

The Bible is full of wonderful promises and this verse is certainly in that category. Everyone is looking for answers for, in this life there will always be questions; things you do not know and cannot understand on your own.

It seems the more things a small child begins to be aware of in their new-found world, the more questions they have. Many times, these questions may only consist of one word, but once they learn that word, it gets plenty of use, and for good reason; it enables them to learn something that they previously did not know.

Most people never outgrow these one-word questions even after they have grown up. Now, however, the questions are often directed to the Lord and relate to things that cannot be understood through mortal means. Some things are known only to God and can only be revealed by Him. He may reveal them, or He may not, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

One of the popular questions is “How?”. This was a big one for Moses, beginning with his first divine visitation in the midst of a burning bush. When God revealed His plan to Moses to deliver His people with Moses as the great deliverer, he began to ask the Lord how that was going to work out. He would go on to ask that question many times before it was all over!

An even more popular question is “Why?” It is easy to revert to childhood with this one. No matter how many times you answer that question for a child, it always leads to another question. Actually, it leads to the same question but this time the topic is the answer to the last question. And so, it goes — more questions than answers. Once, Jesus’ disciples asked Him why a man was born blind. There are plenty of questions like that in this world and no doubt you could think of a few to ask the Lord. Still, more questions than answers!

Then, there is the question of, “When?” Peter tells us that the Lord is not slow or slack concerning His promise, but sometimes that question just comes out seemingly without even realizing it. It’s one thing to trust the Lord for the how and believe that He is able to do what He promised and that He will do it in his own way. The why can be more of a challenge because so many things in life are obviously not in accordance with God’s will. But even after laying these questions at the feet of Jesus and trusting Him, there is still the matter of when. Down that road there will always be more questions than answers!

One of the keys to living a life of peace and joy in a world so full of unanswered questions is to know the One with all of the answers. You don’t have to have all of the answers in life or even for today, as long as your life is in God’s hands and you acknowledge Him in all of your ways. When you have a question, don’t hesitate to call upon the Lord. It will not be the first time He has heard those one-word questions. You will never have all of the answers, but you can always be sure the Lord does. He is the One with all the answers!
