God is spirit: just as Jesus referred to the moving of the Spirit as being like the wind that blows; you see the effect of the wind but you do not see the wind itself, so we worship God, whom we cannot see, because of the effect He has had in our life. You know that you know that God is real and He lives in you because He has given you His Spirit as a guarantee of His presence with you. We take it on faith because He says so in His Word, and we also experience it because of His Spirit within us.
God is truth: The Word became flesh and dwelt among us through Jesus Christ. He is the image of the invisible God. We worship God in truth as we follow Jesus, who is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Yes, there is a God-shaped emptiness in everyone that can only be filled when we turn our worship toward God. We come to Him and we worship Him through our Lord Jesus Christ. We worship the One we cannot see; we worship Him in spirit. His Spirit within our spirit bears witness to His presence in our life. And, we worship Him in truth, Jesus Christ is God, He is the Word, He is the Truth. That’s how we worship!
