Be a Doer of the Word

Jesus confirmed what Moses had told the children of Israel time and again: if you obey the Word of God, you will be blessed. It is not a matter of just knowing what it says but rather choosing purposefully to obey God’s word. To hear the Word of God and to keep it, that’s where the blessing comes in.

So, you have the potential to be just as blessed as Joseph or Mary or the Disciples or the Apostle Paul; no one can be more blessed than you have the potential to be. But what if I don’t do great things for God, like Paul or Peter or Moses did? What if my life hasn’t always been the model of perfect Christianity? First, be sure you get things right with the Lord. Just as it is with His word, it is not enough just to know about the Lord, you must know Him and receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then, you have put yourself into a position to be blessed of the Lord.

You cannot measure your potential for blessing against anyone else, for your walk with God is unique and all that the Lord requires of you is that you be faithful to Him. As you hear the Word of God and it becomes real to you, choose to obey it; keep His Word. In other words, do not just be a hearer of God’s Word, be a doer of the Word, and you will be blessed!
