We can have our faith built up by remembering some assurances Jesus himself has given us. For instance, in the fifth chapter of Matthew, Jesus assures us that not one little dot or letter of the law of God will be done away with until it is fulfilled. No matter how much the world changes all around us, we can have complete confidence in our God that right will always be right and wrong will always be wrong. These truths and principles are established by God and written down and we have His assurance that they will never change. We can and must teach the next generation the truths we have come to know from God’s Word. There may be many voices in the world proclaiming things to be true that are not according to God’s Word, but you can be sure, truth will never change or be done away with as long as heaven and earth remain!
Another assurance we have from Jesus is concerning faith. In the seventeenth chapter of Matthew, Jesus assures us that even faith the size of a mustard seed (which is a very, very small seed) is enough to move mountains. What a blessing to know that we have God’s word on it; if you believe in the Lord and take Him at His word, there is nothing that is too difficult for Him. If you face a situation in your life that is beyond your ability to change, it can be like a mountain standing before you, towering over you and preventing you from pressing forward. But, with Jesus’ assurance that no mountain is too big for your God, all you have to do is take Him at his word. You will see that mountain move! It may not be when and how you wanted it to be done, but God’s ways are always best anyway.
We could go on and on with these assurances, like the authority you have in the name of Jesus to bind and to loose. And then Jesus assures us of a hundred-fold reward on earth as well as a reward in heaven that cannot be taken away whenever we sacrifice something on earth for His sake or the sake of the Kingdom of God. Then, we have the assurance that, whatever we do for the least of the brethren, it is just as if we have done it to Jesus.
All of these and many more. No wonder Jesus calls Himself the Amen in the third chapter of the Revelation. All of God’s promises are Yes and Amen in Jesus. What a blessed assurance!
