When you look at Joshua and the battle of Jericho, the bottom line is, there is no way into Jericho. It is heavily fortified and tightly shut up. But, with the Lord, there is always a way, for He makes a way where there is no way. In fact, sometimes it is for His glory that we face an insurmountable wall, so that when that wall falls down, God will get all of the glory. It has to be the work of God for, with man it would not be possible. Some say it had to be an earthquake to make those walls fall down, but we know that it was faith, even if God used an earthquake to accomplish His purpose. After all, the earth is the Lord’s, so if He wants to make it quake every now and then, let it quake! Just as a side note — it must have been a rather special earthquake, since a part of the outer wall on the north end remained intact even while the rest of the wall was destroyed. God did say He would spare the house of Rahab which was built against the wall of the city!
When Jesus died on the cross, the earth quaked and when the angel rolled the stone away from the tomb where Jesus had been buried, again the earth quaked. And then, there is the time Paul and Silas are locked in a prison in chains and the Lord sent a great earthquake that did not bring down the walls of the prison but just opened the doors and loosed their chains! In other words, this is our Father’s world and He can do whatever He wants to with it to bring about His will and to bring glory to His name.
Just because you face a mountain or a wall or a door that won’t open, that doesn’t mean you have come to the end of the line with no way forward. That just means that you are about to see God do something supernatural on your behalf; He is about to bring glory to His name when He delivers you through an impossible situation. Those walls of Jericho didn’t come down the first day or the second day, just keep walking by faith and doing what God has told you to do.
Walk by faith and not by sight. Don’t talk about how tall that wall is, talk about how big your God is. Keep on praising God and walking; faith is going to bring down those walls!
