Righteous and Gracious

We can believe a lie with all of our heart but that does not make it true. And, we can disagree with God and his Word, but that does not make the Word of God untrue. God is righteous in all his ways, period. If we ever have a disagreement with the Lord, He is right and we are wrong!

Considering the fact that all of God’s ways are just and according to the law, how can anyone ever expect to receive anything good from the Lord. After all, there are none righteous in the world; not one. There are some people who do a lot of good things and some have even given their life in the service of others, but not one person is perfect. That is why the mercy and grace of God are vital to anything good in our life.

God is gracious in all of his works. He is righteous in his ways; He is perfect and everything He does is according to righteousness. Yet, in his works, He is merciful and gracious. If all of those who receive good things from his hand had to be perfect, there would be no one to receive from the Lord. Praise God, by grace we can be saved and adopted into the family of God and be a recipient of his gracious works.

This also serves as a pattern for your life; at least a goal to strive for every day. To be righteous in all of your ways — to seek to follow in Jesus’ footsteps and always do what He would do. That does not mean that a lack of perfection is failure, for we have not arrived but are pressing toward that mark! God looks at your heart, if you fall down, get back up and keep running the race!

The second part of this godly goal for your daily life is to be gracious in all of your works. Remember how the Lord is gracious to you and treat others the way you have been treated by the Lord. God has been merciful to you and shown you favor that you did not deserve, and He will provide you opportunities every day to give what you have received from him. Today (and every day), choose to follow in His steps — be righteous and gracious.
