God has promised you that He will never leave you nor forsake you, so you can be sure of that truth. You can even turn it into a prayer of thanks, “God, I thank You for your presence with me and for the absolute assurance that You will never leave me, You will never forsake me. Even if everyone else forsakes me, You never will.” How can you be that bold before the Lord? Remember, always start by humbling yourself in the presence of the Lord and acknowledge your need before Him, and He will lift you up and cause you to stand.
Not only is the Lord with you, if you humble yourself before Him in obedience, He will also answer when you call upon Him. Again, this is not something that you have to wonder about with questions like, “I had a bad day yesterday, I wonder if the Lord is even on speaking terms with me today?” The Lord is always ready to forgive and put the past away from you. Confess His Word back to Him, “Lord, You are good and ready to forgive.” Then, if there is something you need to get right with Him, now is the time.
Do not wait for the day of trouble to get things right with the Lord. Virtually everyone will call upon the Lord in the day of trouble — many will call upon Him in a vain way (that is, in an empty way; with no substance) they will speak His name but it is not according to faith or according to His Word.
You can be ready anytime to call upon the Lord. Not only that, you can have the confidence that, when you call, He will answer. Sure, there are plenty of reasons why the Lord does not have to answer you. After all, He is God and He is perfect; we are neither. Like King David, even though we are seeking God, we are not perfect. Still, He will answer when you call!
