Remember This Day

It is so easy to forget the good things the Lord has done, especially things that He did generations ago. For many people, history only goes back as far as their recollection of things. They take no thought of how things were before they existed or how things got to be the way they are right now. Like the children of Israel, the natural tendency is to look around and determine God’s goodness and faithfulness based on what you see at this moment. God had exhorted His people to remember the day He delivered them from Egypt with a strong hand. There would be times when it looked like they would be overcome by their enemies or by the wilderness, but if they would just remember that God started them on that journey, they would know that everything is going to turn out just fine.

That principle is just as important for your life today. The Lord did a supernatural work in you to start you on your journey and get you out of Egypt, so to speak. Then, before you know it, you see the enemy is hot on your trail, trying to get you back. But, remember, it is God who began this good work in you and He will see it through to the end.

Then, you may have times when you stand at the bank of the Red Sea, with no way to go forward and the enemy still closing in all around. Remember the Lord has brought you this far by faith and He has not brought you to this place to leave you and abandon you, but rather to show Himself strong on your behalf — to make a way where there is no way so that He gets the glory. Therefore, when there seems to be no way, remember this day!
