The devil is always at work lying to you, if you listen to him; so, don’t listen to him! He will tell you that evil is good and good is evil, he will substitute darkness for light. We are God’s sheep and are only to follow the voice of the Good Shepherd, not the voice of a stranger. The mind is where the battle is fought; you have to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. If not, there is the chance for you to remember things being good when they were actually not good.
Being a slave in Egypt was such a terrible experience for God’s people that they cried out to God and He heard them. That’s what lead to Moses’ encounter with the burning bush; God was responding to the cry of His people. Yet, before we know it, they are remembering a life that never existed in Egypt — a life of ease and freedom.
We have to guard against that same deception today — remembering things being good without the Lord in our life when in reality, the Lord is the only good thing in our life. Without Jesus, it can’t be good. So, give your mind, and your memories, to the Lord. Then you will remember Egypt as it was and not as your flesh imagines it to have been!
