God had a word for the prophet Habakkuk in his day that is a word in season for each generation of believers: “The just shall live by his faith.” Amen. There was much evil in Habakkuk’s day just as there is in our day. But, through it all, God is still the same and His Word has not changed. But, how long before the Lord is going to do something? God knows, but sometimes He’s not telling; that’s when you have to walk by faith! Maybe He will answer you right away and tell you exactly what He has planned but then again, maybe He won’t. Either way, He is faithful and just and He will come through.
You don’t have to know exactly how the Lord is going to deal with this or that situation in your life or the ones you love. It’s enough just to know that He is God and everything that you have entrusted to Him is in the best of hands. The Lord will fulfill His word, in His way and in His time.
So, what are you to do in the meantime, while you are waiting for the Lord to come through and do what He promised He would do? What if it begins to hit close to home and it seems like the enemy is getting the upper hand in your life or your family? Habakkuk shows us the way forward in these situations.
As he comes to the end of his conversation with the Lord, he declares to the Lord (paraphrasing) “Lord, even if everything in my life seems to be falling apart and there is nothing I can do about it and it doesn’t seem as if You are doing anything about it, I know you are at work in my life so, I choose to rejoice in You, the God of my salvation!”
