God Will Never Leave You

Why is it important for the Lord to promise you that He will never leave you nor forsake you? For one thing, like Adam, it is easy to just run and hide from the Lord when you have done something that you know He is not pleased with. During those times you may feel all alone and even abandoned or deserted by God, but it is not He who has left you but rather you who are hiding from the Lord. And, just like with Adam, He is calling you by your name and seeking you out (although He always knows where you are — even without looking).

Also, there may be times when you do not feel the Lord is near to you. You pray and cry out to God but apparently, to no avail. During these times it is vital to remember God’s promise to you; He will never leave you nor will He ever forsake you. Therefore, no matter how you feel or how things appear to be, you are assured of this one thing: God is with you.

When the three Hebrew children were thrown into the fiery furnace because they would not bow down to an idol, it seemed as if the Lord had left them. After all, if He had been there, He could have prevented them from being thrown into that fire. But, in the end we see, the Lord was with them all along and, instead of delivering them from the fire He delivered them through the fire. No matter what is going on in your life or what you are going through, you can be sure of this; the Lord has not left you. If you have wandered from the path, He is out looking for you right now. If you are going through a trial and a testing of your faith, He is going through it with you; God will never leave you!
