Suffering is common to all mankind. The devil is always looking for a way to cause harm, to steal, kill and destroy. He is looking for anyone or anything that he can devour. The good news is, that is not your destiny and therefore it is not your destination. You will encounter suffering along the way, but that’s not where it ends; it’s just a part of the journey.
As long as you draw near to God and resist the devil, remaining steadfast in the faith, the Lord will bring you through to the other side of suffering in four steps — all by His grace. First, He will complete you. That suffering, instead of stealing your faith, will only aid in perfecting it!
Next, the Lord will establish your steps and set you on the road to victory over the enemy. Then, as you press on with the Lord in spite of the suffering, you find once again, your “song in the night” to praise God through the pain. That will bring you to the next step in God’s deliverance: He will strengthen you. After the testing of your faith, you find that your faith is actually stronger because of it. Once again, what the enemy intended for evil, God brings about some good from it. Finally, He will settle you. You find a new confidence in God’s faithfulness and you are not as easily shaken by trouble and suffering because you know this all-important truth: You are just passing through this world to His Eternal Glory!
