His Favor is For Life

The relationship between God and His children is mirrored at least in a very small way in its human counterpart. Jesus uses the example of earthly fathers always wanting to give good gifts to their children and then compares it to how much more your Heavenly Father desires to give His children good gifts. The Word of God tells us in the twelfth chapter of Hebrews that God disciplines or chastises every child He loves. That doesn’t seem pleasant at the time, but because it is righteous, it bears good fruit in the end.

How do relationships remain strong and indeed, even grow stronger through the challenges, the ups and downs, the, “moments”? Because the one thing that never changes is love. When a relationship is built on love, even though there will be those moments, there will never be any doubt about the foundation on which that relationship is built and therefore, it can never be destroyed; tested, tried, challenged, yes, but not destroyed.

Think of some of those moments in your life growing up, there may have been some instants here and there when you felt that those whom you love were angry with you and later you realize how you can feel one thing toward a person’s actions and another toward the person. Even Jesus, when He hung on the cross, felt the Father’s response to the sin of the world that Jesus had taken upon Himself. But at that moment, the Father had not forsaken Jesus, even though that’s the way it felt and the way it seemed.

The Lord loves you with an unchanging, everlasting love. That does not mean that there won’t be some moments between you and Him. Always remember, the Lord loves you just as you are but He loves you too much to leave you that way. God hates sin, but He loves his children. It might seem like He is angry with you just for a moment here and there. Still, through it all, there is one thing that never comes into question; God’s love for you. Even in your darkest night you know the morning’s coming and, in the morning, there will be joy again because you know — God’s favor is for life!
