God always looks at the heart and it is no different when He looks at you. He sees your desire to follow Him and live for Him, even though you are not perfect. When the Lord sees you, He sees the righteousness of Jesus Christ, for He has become your righteousness. Still, although you are not of the world any longer, you are in the world and thus have to deal with the dust that comes with it each and every day.
Even though you are following the Lord and seeking to do His will every day, abstaining from evil and keeping yourself set apart for the Lord, still the “dust” of the world and the world system and those who are of the world might find a place or two to hide. Eventually, you will begin to feel the weight of that accumulated burden if you don’t deal with it. But, what can be done with it?
You have a place to take all of that excess baggage, the “weight of the world” if you will and unload it; you can cast your burden on the Lord. This is one of those promises that is at the same time both universal and personal. It is for every one of God’s children, but it is also personal just for you. The Lord is telling you to cast your burden, the things that are weighing you down right now, on Him. You may feel as if no one knows the burdens you have on your heart at this moment, but there is One who knows even better than you do and He is offering to take that burden from you if you will give it to Him and let go of it!
God will sustain you when you are willing to let Him wash away the dust of the world and take that load off of your shoulders. You will be refreshed, renewed and restored. You cannot prevent the accumulation of a little dust here and there, but the Lord will never allow you to be overcome by it. God’s plan and provision for your life takes into account the fact that you live in a dusty world and He knows that dust can grow into a burden over time. Praise God, He has promised if you cast that burden on Him, He shall sustain you!
