Servant and Steward

God is the creator and we, a part of His creation. Everything that God does is on purpose and His creation is no different. The things He created and even the order in which He created them, are all significant. After everything on earth and in the firmament was created, then God created man in His own image. He gave mankind dominion over all of His creation and indeed has made us to be a little lower than the angels but over all of the rest of His creation.

It is important to remember, however, that even though you are created to be above all the rest of God’s creation, it is still His creation. And, even though God has created you with a free will (as it has been since the beginning of time, when Adam and Eve were free to disobey God if they chose to; which they did!) you are here to do His will and not your own. Every one of us is called to be a servant of Christ, to live our life in submission to His will.

You can never be fulfilled in this life by seeking what you can get out of life, trying to bend everyone and everything around you to your will, because that is not the purpose for which you were created. Some people may act like they are the supreme ruler of their world, but the truth is that they and every one of us, are created to be servants of the Most High God. Your fulfillment can only truly come from being and doing what the Master created you to be and to do.

But, you are not without “possessions” in this life. That’s right, but keep in mind, you are not only created to be a servant of God, you are also created to be a steward of His mysteries. In fact, everything you have, both seen and unseen, belongs to the Lord and He has entrusted all of it into your care. Your physical possessions and wealth, your family and friends, your abilities and the subsequent accomplishments because of them; all of these actually belong to the Lord and you are the steward of them.

To sum it up, you are a one-of-a-kind, special creation of God and you have been blessed with many things and relationships and abilities that all seem to be yours to do with as you see fit, but in reality, it is all the Lord’s and His doing — you are a servant and a steward!
