Perhaps you have suffered evil at the hands of others and there is no indication that they have been “dealt with” in any way — they go on doing evil with impunity. You might have even wondered at times, “Does the Lord see what they are doing?” God does see it all; the eyes of the Lord are in every place. Evil people do not get away with evil; unless they repent they will pay one day!
But, what about doing good, does God see that as well? After all, many times it’s as if good deeds go unrewarded if not unnoticed altogether. Once, Jesus and His disciples were sitting across from the treasury watching all of the rich people putting their gifts into the temple treasury and it was very impressive to behold, sort of like someone giving a very large donation for some cause and having their picture taken with a huge mock-up of a check. It’s big news and gets a lot of attention.
Back to the treasury, Jesus sees a poor widow putting in what would amount to about a half a cent. That certainly wouldn’t make the news! Most people would probably not even see the widow if she were right in front of them. She would have been one of the people that no one paid any attention to; but Jesus saw her. Not only did He see her, but He declared to the disciples that her offering amounted to more than all of the other huge gifts.
You might feel as if you have nothing significant to offer the Lord; that He would not even notice the little you can do for Him, but that is not the case at all. God sees all the good you do and He never forgets. Whatever you do even for the least of His children, it is just as if you did it for Jesus. How can He see everything all at once? Because He is God!
When you try to understand God’s care for you, there is a natural limit to your perspective based on your own experience in life. As a child, you may have thought that your parents or other adults in your life had “eyes in the back of their head” because it seemed as if you could not get away with anything even when they were not looking. It’s as if they even knew what you were thinking! Then, as you grow into an adult, you begin to grow some of those extra eyes yourself and probably get the chance to amaze some little ones with your keen sense of perception.
When it comes to the Lord watching over you, it can seem as if He is not seeing everything, but in fact He does see everything. He has eyes everywhere! There is nothing that escapes His notice, evil or good. Don’t worry about the evil person, no matter how it seems, they are not getting away with anything. And, don’t think the good you do in the name of the Lord is going unnoticed, even if it escapes everyone’s notice, God sees. God is keeping watch!
