It is easy to fall into the trap of looking at others and questioning why God deals with them as He does or maybe why He doesn’t deal with them as you think He should! When it comes to those who are not following the Lord, many times it seems as if they prosper and everything is so easy for them; they go about their way as if there is no God and they can do or say whatever they please with no consequences. Their day, however, will come without you having to worry about it or question God about it — they will give an account of their life to the Judge of All the Earth when that time comes!
But, it’s not just non-believers that can get your attention; there is also the matter of other Christians who seem to be Jesus’ favorite. You may feel at times as if your life is not as blessed as other Christians or that you have to really struggle for anything good to come your way and other Christians just get up in the morning and blessings overtake them. They just seem to be closer to Jesus than you are; it’s almost like they are His favorite.
Peter had to battle with those kinds of thoughts when it came to John. After all, he is the disciple that Jesus loved. Jesus even talked to John from the cross and left him in charge of taking care of Mary as if she were his mother. And at mealtime, guess who always got to sit next to Jesus — that’s right, John did.
Finally, before Jesus is taken up into heaven, Peter just has to ask Him about John’s future and Jesus tells him what He is telling you today: “Don’t worry about anyone else’s walk; you just follow Me.”
