Where Do Your Words Come From?

Where do your words come from? Are you saying what God says about you and your circumstances or do you get the words that you speak from some other source? When you put things in perspective and consider that God is the One who created you and has all knowledge and wisdom and even knows the end from the beginning, it would seem like an obvious choice to say what God says rather than say what others say or what comes to your mind.

You may have heard other people say things and just repeat them without even considering if they are indeed words from your Heavenly Father or just the words of man. It can happen. After all, from the beginning of time, there has been the temptation to listen to other voices rather than the voice of the Lord. It can seem so appealing, so reasonable, so right. But, the only right words are the Father’s words!

There may be echoes in your mind of words you have heard spoken over you in the past that need to be eradicated not only from your mind but also from your heart and from your mouth. Even as a child, when you hear words like, “What’s wrong with you?”, the enemy translates that into thoughts that can turn into words such as, “There’s something wrong with me.” Maybe you grew up hearing, “Can’t you do anything right?” and that became “I can’t do anything right.”

Just because you have words in your head, that doesn’t mean the Father put them there! Today is a good day to take stock of your vocabulary and trace what you find there back to its source — is it from the Father or is this the result of listening to the wrong voice. Maybe you have some items that are there in your mind from the accuser, the devil; words you heard even as a child and took to heart.

The good news is, it’s not too late to replace your vocabulary. Once you realize you have been using words that were not spoken to you or about you or over you by the Father, you can choose to replace those lies with the truth. Also, you can become a blessing to others around you by speaking the Father’s words to them and about them and over them. Not only will you be blessed but, through the Father’s words, you will be a blessing.
